How It Works

The formula is: Total Days = (Months × 30) + Additional Days. Each month is approximated as exactly 30 days, which keeps the calculation simple and consistent. Total weeks is the floor of total days divided by 7 (e.g., 90 days ÷ 7 = 12 weeks with 6 days remaining). Total hours is total days multiplied by 24. As a worked example: 3 months and 15 days = (3 × 30) + 15 = 90 + 15 = 105 days total. 105 ÷ 7 = 15 weeks exactly. 105 × 24 = 2,520 hours. For events where the exact calendar date matters (and the distinction between 28, 30, and 31-day months is important), the Countdown Calculator accepts specific year/month/day inputs for a precise count.

Examples

3-Month Event Countdown
Event is 3 months away with no extra days.
Result: 90 days, 12 weeks and 6 days remaining, 2,160 hours.
6 Weeks Away
Event is 1 month and 12 extra days away — equivalent to approximately 6 weeks.
Result: 42 days, exactly 6 weeks, 1,008 hours.
One Month Countdown
Short-term deadline or event exactly one month away.
Result: 30 days, 4 weeks and 2 days, 720 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are months approximated as 30 days?
Months are approximated as 30 days because this calculator is designed for quick estimates when you know approximately how far away an event is — not a specific calendar date. The approximation introduces at most 1–2 days of error per calendar month. For an exact day count tied to specific calendar dates, use the Countdown Calculator, which accepts year, month, and day inputs and handles leap years correctly.
Can I enter zero months?
Yes — set months to 0 and use only the Additional Days field for short countdowns under a month. For example, entering 0 months and 14 days gives exactly 14 days (2 weeks, 336 hours). This makes the calculator useful for any countdown length from a single day up to 10 years.
How do I convert the result into weeks?
The calculator automatically shows the week breakdown. Total weeks is the floor of total days divided by 7, and the remaining days field shows the leftover days after full weeks are counted. For example, 100 days = 14 full weeks with 2 days remaining. The total hours output is useful when coordinating across time zones or when precise scheduling requires an hours-based view.
