How It Works

Coins Held = Investment ÷ Buy Price. Current Value = Coins Held × Current Price. Fee Amount = Investment × (Fee % ÷ 100). Net Profit = Current Value − Investment − Fee Amount. ROI = (Net Profit ÷ Investment) × 100. As a worked example: $1,000 invested at a buy price of $30,000 gives Coins = $1,000 ÷ $30,000 = 0.033333 BTC. At a current price of $65,000, Current Value = 0.033333 × $65,000 = $2,166.67. Fee Amount = $1,000 × 0.005 = $5.00. Net Profit = $2,166.67 − $1,000 − $5.00 = $1,161.67. ROI = ($1,161.67 ÷ $1,000) × 100 = 116.17%. The fee is applied to the initial investment only (the buy-side fee). If you also paid a sell-side fee, double the fee percentage to capture both sides of the round trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include taxes?
No — this calculator shows gross profit before capital gains tax. In the US, crypto profits are taxable as capital gains: short-term (held under 1 year) at ordinary income rates, and long-term (held over 1 year) at preferential rates of 0%, 15%, or 20%. Use the Crypto Tax Calculator to estimate your after-tax proceeds.
Can I use this for any coin?
Yes — enter the buy and current price for any cryptocurrency, token, or NFT floor price. The calculator works for any asset where profit is calculated as (current price ÷ buy price − 1) × investment. For NFTs, use the floor price as the current price for an approximate mark-to-market valuation.
What trading fee should I enter?
Enter your exchange's maker or taker fee as a percentage. Binance charges approximately 0.1%, Coinbase Pro 0.5%, Kraken 0.26%, and Coinbase (retail) up to 1.5%. If you paid fees on both entry and exit, double the percentage to capture the full round-trip cost. Gas fees on Ethereum or other blockchains can also be added by converting them to a percentage of your investment amount.
