How It Works

The calculator uses the compound growth formula: Total ETH = Staked ETH × (1 + APR)^years, where APR is expressed as a decimal (e.g. 4% = 0.04). This assumes rewards are compounded annually — that is, each year's staking rewards are added to the principal and themselves earn rewards in subsequent years. ETH Rewards Earned = Total ETH − Initial ETH. USD value is calculated by multiplying the ETH quantities by the entered price, which is treated as a constant since future ETH price is unknown. For year-by-year breakdowns or monthly compounding, the result will differ slightly from a step-by-step simulation.

Examples

Solo Validator
32 ETH at 4% APR for 1 year, ETH at $3,500.
Result: 1.28 ETH earned (~$4,480) in year 1. Total: 33.28 ETH worth $116,480.
Liquid Staking (10 ETH)
10 ETH staked via liquid protocol at 4% for 3 years.
Result: ~1.249 ETH earned over 3 years (~$4,371 at $3,500/ETH).
Five-Year Projection
5 ETH at 3.5% APR over 5 years.
Result: ~0.938 ETH earned over 5 years. Total: 5.938 ETH.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need 32 ETH to stake?
For solo validation yes, but liquid staking protocols like Lido or Rocket Pool allow staking any amount.
What APR should I expect?
Solo validators earn ~3–4% APR. Liquid staking protocols typically yield slightly less after fees (~3–4%).
Are staking rewards taxable?
In most jurisdictions, staking rewards are taxed as ordinary income when received. Consult a tax professional.
